James L. “Jim” Fonk, 83, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Milton, WI, on January 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Roy and Charlotte (Kaufman) Fonk. He came to Kenosha as a child and graduated from Kenosha High School. On June 21, 1952, he married Noreen Pinnola at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Jim was employed with Nash/American Motors Corporation, first in the employment office and later as a superintendent in the final assembly department. Jim served as County Board Chairman for two years and a Supervisor for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing as well as deer and turkey hunting. He was a licensed private pilot and a licensed nautical captain. Jim enjoyed spending his retirement years with his wife in Arizona, returning home to Kenosha two years ago. Survivors include his wife, Noreen of Pleasant Prairie; a son, Larry (Kristine) Fonk; three daughters, Cheryl (Dominic) Sochia, Janet (Rick) Quesenberry and Julie (Joseph) Gemignani; a brother, Gerald Fonk; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Fonk. Jim’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Joe Garretto and his staff for all of the compassionate care they gave him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, at the Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private.
