Lois Haithcock, 84, passed away early Sunday morning, May 17th, in her room at Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Lois passed quietly in her sleep from natural causes. Family and friends were present throughout the day and at the time of her death. Lois was born on the 27th of November, 1932, to Robert and Margaret Heidenreich in Stockton, IL. Lois was the second of five children including Ramona, Max, Virginia and Juanita. Lois graduated from North Central College and earned her nursing degree from Presbyterian St. Luke's in Chicago. After college, Lois moved to New Mexico where she served as a missionary nurse. Later, Lois returned to school in New Jersey and earned her master's degree in education from Rutgers University. Lois married and had two sons, Richard and Bill. For much of her life her family resided in Palatine, IL, where she worked on the coronary floor at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Lois also served as an instructor of nursing both in New Jersey and at Northwest Community. Towards the end of her career, she worked part time at a nursing home near the family home in Palatine. She also greatly enjoyed working as a home care nurse. The past several years of her life, Lois and family have lived in Kenosha, WI. She enjoyed volunteering at Bullen Middle School and Harborside Academy. Lois most recently worshiped at Kenosha Family Church. Lois is survived by her younger son Bill (his wife Anne), her older son Richard and granddaughter Jessie. Lois' brother Max currently resides in California. Her sister Virginia lives in Georgia while Juanita still lives near their birthplace in Illinois. Lois' parents and her older sister Ramona have preceded her in death. On Tuesday, May the 26th, a service celebrating the life of Lois will be held at the Kenosha Family Church, 3910 27th Street, Kenosha, WI. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by a short memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Lois was a devout Christian, a devoted mother, a breast cancer survivor, a volunteer, a friend, and quite simply, a nice person who was most happy when she was helping others.
