Joseph H. Eckert, 66, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at United Hospital System-St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus surrounded by his loving family. Born in La Crosse, WI, on March 23, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry and Frances (Lee) Eckert. He moved to Kenosha as a child and graduated from Tremper High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from July 29, 1968, until his honorable discharge on July 28, 1970. Afterwards he spent many years in the National Guard. On January 27, 1970, he married Nancy Klowa in Kenosha. Joe was currently employed with Ocean Spray for the last 44 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1865, was an avid Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed hunting and also fishing with his fishing buddies, his brother Jeff and granddaughter Jamie. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Kenosha; three children, Ron Eckert, Dawn (Fred) Pena and Lisa (Earl Owens) Eckert, all of Kenosha; five brothers, Jim (Rita) Eckert of Union Grove, Jeff (Karen) Eckert of Kenosha, Jack (Char) Eckert of Kenosha, Jay (Robin) Eckert of Booneville, MS, and Bob Schultz of Kenosha; two sisters, Judy (William) Wright and Jane (Mark) Gittens, both of Kenosha; and three granddaughters, Katelyn, Emily and Jamie Pena. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Fagen and Betty O’Leary; and a brother, Sonny Schultz. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15th, at Proko Funeral Home at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

I worked with Joe for 26 of his 44 yrs. he always had a smile for you and a silly joke that he would tell you to make you laugh or just give him the look like " really Joe?". I will miss him! Prayers to his family.Mary

"Just fine, how are you Kathy?" I heard this evey day I saw Joe for the last several years. Even when I am sure he was not well. A great guy, awesome employee and great family man. Joe spoke so proudly of his kids & grandkids. R I P Joe. You are sorely missed by your osc family.
