Walter A. Jakielski, 83, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Joliet, IL, on June 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Mary (Ceranski) Jakielski. On September 22, 1950, he married Lois M. Jaskowiak in New Buffalo, MI. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2009. Walter was employed as a manager for Commonwealth Edison until his retirement. He loved to garden, fish and was a charter boat captain. Survivors include his three children, Walter S. (Kathy) Jakielski of Marseilles, IL, David M. Jakielski of Kenosha and Laura Anne (Robert) Holman-Douglas of Quinton, VA; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Diana (Pablo), Tania (Derrick), Stephen (Lydea), Jacob, Anna and Morgan; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Mary) Jakielski of Joliet, IL; and two sisters, Carol (Robert) Terdic of Joliet, IL, and Rita Flickinger of Woodbridge, VA. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeffrey Holman; and a brother-in-law, Jim Flickinger. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11th, at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
