Michael Gallo, 90, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Medical Center Campus surrounded by his family. Born in Kenosha on October 15, 1924, he was the son of the late Ralph and Agnes (Carelli) Gallo. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha. He was educated in the Kenosha Public Schools and then received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mike served in the 133rd Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II from October 7, 1943, until his honorable discharge on December 6, 1945. He received the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, and Purple Heart Medal with 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. On May 17, 1947, he married Eileen Redo at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha. Mike was a pharmacist and owned and operated Gallo Pharmacy for over 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, was active with the American Cancer Society and was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed photography, golfing, traveling and loved football, especially the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Mike also greatly enjoyed going to Friday night fish fry’s with his wife Eileen and his special niece, Gilda Smith and her husband Roger. Mike who loved his family dearly is survived by the love of his life, Eileen of Kenosha; three sons, Gary R. (Peggy Schubert) Gallo of Hatboro, PA, James M. (Judith Loy) Gallo of Lambertville, NJ, and Michael J. (Adrienne) Gallo of Pleasant Prairie; six brothers, Albert Gallo, Gino (Jackie) Gallo, Ronald (Beverly) Gallo, John (Caroline) Gallo, Dino Gallo and Joseph (Lorena) Gallo, all of Kenosha; a sister, Rose (Robert) Nelson of Kenosha; and his step mother, Irene Gallo. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rachel (Marty) Slamon, Leah (Jason) Gallo, Daniel Gallo, Evan Gallo, Roslyn Gallo, Madeline Gallo, Samuel Gallo and Amelia Gallo; four great-grandchildren Aubrey, Elliot, Carmella and Colin with a fifth on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Marks’ Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery with full military honors.
