Carol Jean Schmaling, 74, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Kenosha on December 18, 1940, the daughter of the late Clifford and Hazel (Pierce) Alleman. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools. On January 20, 1961, she married Thomas Schmaling in Kenosha. Carol was a 25 year heart transplant recipient survivor and a 10 year kidney recipient survivor. She loved baseball, bowling, “Poker Nite” with her high school friends and especially spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Schmaling; four children, Penny (Scott) Brown, Shelly Dixon, Michael (Wendy) Schmaling and David Schmaling, all of Kenosha; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Alleman of Kenosha; and a sister, Barbara (Linden) McFaul of Briggsville, WI. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, at Proko Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment at All Saints Cemetery will be private.
