Maxine Juanita Wasser, 89, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Brookside Care Center surrounded by her family. Born in Missouri Valley, IA, on March 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Olive (Hovey) Smith. She was educated in the schools of Iowa. She lived in Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri before coming to Kenosha in 1964. On December 28, 1945, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Carl Wasser in Unionville, MO. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2004. She was a homemaker for many years and was employed with Sears when they opened in Kenosha for over 30 years. Survivors include her daughter, Diane M. Anderson of Kenosha; a granddaughter, Sarah M. (David) Franz of Kenosha; two great-grandsons, Dreu A. Pulera and Jordan T. Smith-Franz; a great-granddaughter, Brynn M. Franz; a brother, Kermit (Dorothy) Hovey of Kenosha; and a sister, Cynthia Ann Zingsheim of Titusville, FL. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Emmett and Perry Smith; and two sisters, Karen Lemke and Yvonne Hanna. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookside Care Center for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave Maxine. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31st, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
