Elmer E. DeLabio, 93, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove. Born in Kenosha on November 18, 1921, he was the son of the late Cecil and Mathilda (Blair) DeLabio. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. Elmer was involved with the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939 and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from March 25, 1943, until his honorable discharge on December 29, 1945. He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four bronze battle stars, three overseas service bars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He later went on to retire from the U.S. Naval Reserves. On July 25, 1942, he married Ellen Gennaccaro at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Elmer was employed with the American Motors Corporation as a journeyman millwright for 42 years until his retirement. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was an active member of the Alpine Club, Moose Lodge, Roma Lodge, the VFW Post 1865 and the Senior Strings. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and train collector. Elmer enjoyed gardening, golfing and playing Bocci. Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Kenosha; three daughters, Claudia Hoff of Sarasota, FL, and Pat (Bob) Oldani and Denise (Guy) Sorgio, both of Kenosha; eight grandchildren, Kevin (Jamie) Hoff, Dennis (Amy Fabiano) Hoff, Kimberly Hoff, Lance (Angela) Hoff, Deanna (Matthew) McCoy, Frank (Marci) Oldani, Donald (Wendy) Oldani and Corinne Keller; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Martin Bernacchi; and four brothers, Percy, Lornie, Louis and one in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery with full military honors.
