Teresa Carmela Covelli passed away surrounded by her family at St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, on Friday, November 21, 2014. Teresa was born on April 5, 1933, in Marano Principato, Cosenza, Italy. Teresa was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Carolina Savaglio, oldest sister of the late Alfredo Savaglio (Rosalba) and surviving Domenico Savaglio (Esterina). Surviving family members include her husband, Armando Covelli; children, Emilia Covelli, Adriana Covelli, Filiberto Covelli, and Giulia Sturycz (Nick); and grandchildren, Antonio Covelli, Victoria Covelli, Teresa Hoaglund, Sakarias Hoaglund, Maximilian Hoaglund, Stefano Covelli, Bridgita Covelli and Enzo Sturycz. On August 5, 1956, began the 58 years of marriage to surviving husband Armando Covelli. Teresa came to Kenosha in 1953 from Cosenza to become a citizen of the US. Lived in the US for a few years to find work and went back to Cosenza to wed Armando in 1956. After they were married, Teresa moved back to Kenosha and requested residency for Armando and they were reunited in 1958. She worked at various factories in Aurora, IL, and Kenosha, WI, including Simons Mattress. She also helped her husband run Covelli’s Service Station while taking care of her four children for many years. For 15 years, Teresa went door to door raising money for the church of Saint Anthony in Padova, Italy. She did this mission to thank God for her first survival of cancer that she endured over 20 years ago. Teresa was a sister of the Vittoria Colonna at the Roma Lodge and a member at the Alpine club where she enjoyed spending time playing Bocce Ball while being with friends. She was also a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church where she helped fry dough for the festival for many years. Teresa enjoyed her time sewing and mending clothing. She was especially known for her exceptional cooking and baking. Teresa loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Teresa’s visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26th, with prayers at 9:30 a.m. and Mass to follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bill Hayward officiating. Entombment will follow the Mass at All Saints Mausoleum. Teresa blessed everyone around her whether they were family or friend.
