Carlotta Millholland
Carlotta “Sis” Millholland, 85, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Killdeer Farm with her family at her side. Born on October 22, 1928, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Carlotta (Cooper) Lance; she was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, attended Kemper Hall, and graduated from Greenwood School in Ruxton, MD. She then attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1993. August 19, 1950, she married Arthur M. “Mac” Millholland in Kenosha. Together, they enjoyed countless fishing trips, boating, and world travel across many oceans. Mac preceded her in death on July 11, 2011. They enjoyed over sixty years of marriage. A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, she served on many committees and circles, and was a member of United Methodist Women. Sis and Mac’s contribution to First United Methodist Church and the Southeast United Methodist Conference stands as a testament of service. She was a member and officer of P.E.O. philanthropic organization, a Girl and Boy Scout leader, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and a swimming instructor for those with special needs at Jane Vernon School. Carlotta served as board member at the Kenosha Achievement Center and Green Ridge Cemetery. Her other contributions as a volunteer are too numerous to list and many times her service was done without expectation of recognition. Surviving are her four children, Carl (Jennifer) of Monona, WI, Gilbert (Laura) of Wilkesboro, NC, Raymond of Pleasant Prairie and Robert (Karen) of Verona, WI; a niece, Alice Ann (Dan) Steward of Kenosha; twelve grandchildren, Ian, Anna, Cooper, John, Lance, Dillon, Sarah, Emma, Anthony, Christopher, Joshua and Angela; and three great-grandchildren, Destiny, Lance and Leah. Carlotta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mary Anna Lance; and a niece, Marie Jeanette Schell. In her role as wife, mother, aunt and friend Carlotta’s gentle and giving spirit was evident to all who met her. Her love of her husband, water, motherhood, and service serves as a wonderful example of selfless generosity. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29th, at the First United Methodist Church, 919-60th Street, Kenosha, WI 53140, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shalom Center would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Carlotta’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
