Mary “Marti” Witt, 72, of Kenosha, died peacefully in her home on November 13, 2014. Born on January 14, 1942, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Mottet and Vernice (Rowe) Mottet. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School class of 1959. On May 5, 1962, she married Juergen O. Witt in Kenosha, WI. She has been a long time member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Women of the Church, Bible Study and Genealogy Society. She was the first Big Sister in Kenosha and also a foster parent for KYDS. Her enthusiasm for local history and love of teaching led her to become a docent for the Kenosha Historical Society Museum and The Kenosha Public Museum for many years. She also taught Piano for 30 years. Her hobbies were many, including reading, travel and crafts. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years and children Laura and husband Peter Buergin-Witt of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Jeffrey and wife Cindy of Port Washington, WI, and grandchildren, Lisa, Rika, Michael and Megan, foster daughters Denise Krueger of Florence, AL and Robyn Pardo of Butternut, WI, and many friends who will miss her dearly for her moving sense of humor, firm convictions and boundless energy. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17th, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, 2001-80th Street, Kenosha, WI 53143, at 12:00 noon followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. and brunch.
