Alice Mae Jorgensen

Alice M. (Gyurina) Jorgensen, 78, of Kenosha passed away peacefully, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Born on March 23, 1936, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Aranka (Cikel) Gyurina. She received her education in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. Alice was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, except for six years in Arizona; she returned back to Kenosha in 2008 to be closer to her family. On June 29, 1957, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Peter A. Jorgensen. She had formerly been employed by Dynamatic Corp, The Selective Service Board and Glen View Naval Air Station. Alice was a member of Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a devoted catholic. She loved to crochet in her earlier years, was a great baker (especially pies), loved to sing around the house and had a great voice; in Arizona she enjoyed doing Tai Chi. She was also an animal lover, loved to laugh and took a genuine interest in others. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Peter A. Jorgensen of Kenosha; her five children, James (Donna) Jorgensen of Kenosha, Dr. Daniel (Xilla) Jorgensen of Philadelphia, PA, Susan (Duane) Kilby of Kenosha, Julianne (Greig Greenwald) Jorgensen of Lexington, MA, and Peter G. (Nancy) Jorgensen of Kenosha; a brother, Edward (Marion) Gyurina of Kenosha; and thirteen grandchildren, Christian, Erik, Ethan, Jakob, Caitlin, Kristin, Matthew, Madeline, Kira, Alex, Olivia, Jeromy and Anna. The youngest of nine children she was preceded in death by seven of her siblings and her parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
