Doris Jean Komarec

1936 ∼ 2014

“A family says goodbye to their loving mother and grandmother”. Doris J. Komarec was born in Pocahontas, IA, on October 26, 1936, and died on August 21, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew, travel, and play bridge. Some other special interests were murder mysteries, puzzles, tennis, golf, and oriental décor. She had many special friendships that withstood the course of her life. She was in the same bridge group for 34 years, and was especially fond of her sisters in the CQ chapter of P.E.O., but it was her family especially her grandchildren that gave her the greatest joy. She was blessed to have been married for 36 years to her loving husband Richard who shared in her love of golf, travel, and family. She is survived by her children: Julia (Bruce) Nichols of Wood Dale, IL, Joni (Corey) Scheller of Sugar Land, TX, and Michael (Donna) Komarec of Kenosha, and her nine grandchildren: Kevin, Karyn, and Kristin Nichols; Andrew, Emily, Austin, and Abigail Scheller; and Kayla and Corey Komarec. She is also survived by three brothers and four sisters. Preceding her in death was her parents, her husband Richard (1996), and three brothers. “A special thank you to the staff at Brookside and Hospice Alliance”. A memorial gathering will be held at the Proko Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m., followed by Military Honors.
