Arlene P. Diederich, 69, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, CA. Born in Chicago, IL, on April 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Bessie (Rifkin) Norris. On November 28, 1965, Arlene married Bruce Diederich. They made their home in Pleasant Prairie, initially to accommodate her horse, Ringo, and soon after among a medley of cows, chickens, pigs, and sheep. In September 2012, Bruce and Arlene bought a home in Manteca, CA, so Arlene could be closer to her children in California, conveniently near Stanford Hospital, and blissfully warmer in winter. Arlene was employed as an optician for 15 years at Salem Vision Center in Paddock Lake and Kenosha. She was active with her children’s schools as a room mother when they were young, was a 4-H leader, and loved her family, her friends in WI and CA, her horses, her pets over the years, and her flower garden. Survivors include her husband, Bruce of Pleasant Prairie, WI; her children, Melissa Diederich of Manteca, CA, and Dan (Ann) Diederich of Menlo Park, CA; her brothers, Arnie (Charlotte) Norris of Michigan City, IN, and Burt Norris of Oak Park, IL; and her granddaughter, Katie Diederich. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Norris, of San Antonio, TX; and her beloved pets: Ringo, Elsa, Gina, Chula, Casper, and Zulu. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be private at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Proko Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the animal shelter of your choice would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Arlene's Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
