“The Taco Bell Lady” Lois E. Metallo, 75, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. She was born on October 31, 1938, in Kenesaw, NE, the daughter of the late Maynard and Dorothy (Einspahr) Swanson. On June 21, 1959, she married George Metallo in Kenesaw, NE, and they later moved to Kenosha. Lois was employed at Taco Bell for over 30 years. She loved greeting and talking to her regular customers. She was the President of the Messiah Lutheran Church Altar Guild and Auxiliary President of the Scout Leaders Rescue Squad. Lois was also Past-President and lifelong member of the KUSD Choir Boosters. Surviving Lois are her husband, George; four children, Dennis Metallo of Kenosha, Bruce (Debbie Kaarto) Metallo of Kenosha, Tammy (Pete) Skendziel of Kenosha and Chris Daugherty of Kenosha; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Ashley, Kim, Brianna, Alison and Ryan; and two sisters, Jenny Joslin of Nebraska and Gloria Gano of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clao Swanson. A memorial gathering will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2026-22nd Avenue, Kenosha, on Friday, May 30th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held privately. I only knew Lois from visiting her counter many times. She always treated me as a friend, not just another customer. I know she loved her job because of the people. She will be missed by me and many others. Rest In Peace Lois
