Helma Maria Cerminara (Bröckel), 74, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center. Born in Ulm, Germany on September 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Maximilian and Walberga (Zinnacker) Bröckel. She was united in marriage to Gregory Frank Cerminara and immigrated to the United States as a young bride in 1962. Helma was a loyal employee at Carthage College for many years. She proudly received the A.W. Clausen Center Room Dedication in 2004. Her most important job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an accomplished cook, enjoyed flower gardening and created beautiful works of art with her crocheting and knitting. Helma is survived by her husband, Gregory; daughters, Gina, Deborah, Judy and Michelle; sons, Greg “Butch”, David, Joe and Danny; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Lucia Kuntz, Gertrude Ritchie and Walberga Kliebel; two brothers, Max Bröckel and Gunter Bröckel; and loving in-laws, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Bröckel and Peter Bröckel; two sisters, Rosa Bröckel and Cecilia Bröckel; and two great-grandchildren, Angel and DeNajeyah Cerminara. The family would like to express sincere gratitude and love to the wonderful staff at The Sterling House for their outstanding care and dedication. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
