Regina Bertha Delany

Regina B. Delany, 93, of Kenosha, was reunited with the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha. Born on February 14, 1920, in Brown County, WI, in Rockland Township, she was the 5th child of ten children and first daughter of the late John and Petronella (Cornelissen) Wellens. Regina liked to share her many memories of being raised on a farm with her nine brothers and sisters and her chore of feeding the chickens as a young child. In June 1944, Regina met Thomas J. Delany Sr. at the south side Armory in Milwaukee. They were united in marriage two and a half months later at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePere, WI, on September 2, 1944. They were married for 52 years until his death in 1996. Regina was employed as a certified drug accountant at Abbott Laboratories until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Girlfriends Card Club for over 50 years. Regina was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church and a past member of the St. Marks Christian Mothers. She was a lifelong Green Bay Packer Fan and never missed watching a game while wearing her Packer's jersey. Photos of the Green Bay Packer players adorn the walls of her home and are intertwined with photos of her children. She enjoyed square dancing with the Allemande Club which was held at the Southport Beach House in Kenosha. Regina was known for her sense of humor, strong work ethic which she bestowed upon her children and her kindness and generosity. Regina will be deeply missed by her seven children, Patricia (Edward) Ward of Lodi, WI, Janet (Ron) Kuryanowicz of Kenosha, Kathleen Metcalf of Kenosha, Thomas (Katie) Delany Jr. of Kenosha, John (Pamela) Delany of Kenosha, Timothy (Roberta) Delany of Deerfield, WI, and Michael (Charlene) Delany of Kenosha. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is survived by sister, Rita Carey of Oconto, and brother, Donald Wellens of Oconto Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Delany Sr.; five brothers, Christian, Anthony, Raymond, Bill and Jerome; and two sisters, Lucille Urban and Marian Wehnes. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookside Care Center for their compassion and care and a special thank you to caregiver Julee Smith. Grandma Delany will be greatly missed. I was very lucky to meet her and loved visiting her whenever I could with Katie. Grandma was an amazing woman who will be greatly missed.
