Mary Claire Panek, 71, of Nokomis, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, on May 28, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Grace (Young) Liewehr. She graduated Gateway Technical College with a degree as a registered nurse. On October 14, 1961, she married Joseph B. Panek at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Chicago. In 1974 they moved to Bristol, WI, from Gurnee, IL. Mary was employed as a registered nurse at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL, and retired from Deerpath Medical Group in Lake Forest, IL, in 1999. After retirement, they moved to Nokomis, FL. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Osprey, FL, the Calusa Lakes Niners golf club in Nokomis, FL, and found enjoyment in taking care of her house plant and flowers. Mary also loved to travel and visit casinos She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Jack. Visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, August 19th, at Proko Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 20th, at Holy Cross Parish, 18700-116th Street, Bristol, WI, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.
