Eugene Leo Jablonski

Eugene L. “Gene” Jablonski, 80, of Kenosha, passed on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Born in Wausau, WI, on October 2, 1932, he was born to Leo and Sarah Jablonski, and raised by the late John and Helen Magrecki. He was educated in the schools of Wausau and came to Kenosha to make his home in 1960. Gene was a Corporal in the U.S. Army stationed in Washington D.C. during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On May 27, 1953, he married Dolores M. Buchberger, daughter of Leo and Florence Buchberger in Wausau Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1997. Gene was employed by the Piped Piper shoe factory in Wausau, before coming Kenosha in 1960 to work for American Motors Corporation until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid perch fisherman, who loved fishing from the piers and other secret places, making most all his own bait for fishing, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed deer hunting and hunting pheasants with his beloved and faithful companion dog, Willie. He could fix almost anything or rig them to work. He loved tending in the garden, planting vegetables that he planted along with other vegetables his friends would give him. Gene also enjoyed watching Green Bay Packer games, hoping his numbers would come up. He is survived and will be greatly missed his children, Michael Gene Jablonski and Debbie (Steve Wick) Jablonski-Wick, and Willie dog of Kenosha; And two sisters, Katie Heckathorn of Ft. Myers, FL, and Micky (Windy) Wendt of Fon du Lac, WI; and a brother, Tom (Kathy) Magrecki of St. Louis, MO. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
