Hazel D. Mowrey

1921 ∼ 2013

Hazel D. Mowrey
Hazel D. (Ritter) Mowrey, 91, of Kenosha, entered the presence of Jesus her Savior on Friday, May 10, 2013. She was born to the late Clarence and Gertrude Ritter-McNaughton in Kenosha on December 25, 1921. She attended schools in Kenosha and Highland Park, IL, graduating from Kenosha High School in 1939. She was the devoted mother of two children: Ray (Nancy) Mowrey, of New Milford, CT, and Pat (Gene) Sunday, of Pleasant Prairie; the grandmother of five: Tina Mowrey of Austin, TX, Craig Mowrey of Waterbury, CT, Brian Mowrey of Brookfield, CT, David Sunday of Elgin, IL, and Eric Sunday, of Paris, WI, along with their spouses; and the great-grandmother of fourteen. Hazel worked as a legal secretary for Plous, Plous, Zievers & Mason for over thirty years until her retirement in 1991. She sacrificed much to raise her children and made a profound influence on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active volunteer at Kenosha Memorial Hospital; loved to play the piano; and poured herself out all her years in service to Christ's church, most recently Prayer House Assembly of God in Kenosha. Some of her favorite memories were vacations in Door County with her family. She will be cherished for her generous care for others, her devotion to prayer, and her radiant faith in her Lord Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clinton Ritter. She is survived by both of her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and many loving cousins. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph's Villa and Rehabilitation Center and the Hospice House for their kindness and excellent care. A brief visitation with the family will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, May 17th, at Prayer House Assembly of God, 1525-24th Avenue in Kenosha. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Village Cemetery of Ringwood, IL, on Friday at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice House or The Prayer House Assembly of God would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Hazel’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

We truly can say, we are better people for having known Hazel. She was always an encourager, had a delightful sense of humor, a real prayer warrior and just a joy to know and be with. Our sympathies to the Sunday and Mowrey families. She will be missed, but can't you just see her walking in Glory!

To the family of Hazel Mowrey. I have such lovely and fond memories of Hazel. I was part of Prayer House Assembly of God Church in Kenosha for many years; and fellowshipped with Hazel many times. She always gave me such good advice and shared her wisdom with me. I will always remember her, and I am so glad that I will see her again one day. Heaven just gained a wonderful saint. Love, Joyce Dashner
