Richard Keith Stiles
Richard K. Stiles, 82, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Saturday April 20, 2013, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. He was born in Kenosha on June 30, 1930, to the late Earl and Janie (Richardson) Stiles. Richard graduated from Bradford High and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Agriculture. While growing up he worked for various farms in Somers Township. On February 4, 1950, he married Ruth Arndt in Kenosha. She preceded him in death in July of 1978. Richard and Ruth owned and operated Stiles Farms and produce in Pleasant Prairie for over 63 years, starting out in 1950 with five acres and growing it to 200 acres. They operated a flower and produce stand on South Sheridan Road and a stand at the Columbus Park Farmers Market. During the winter months Richard worked for American Motors. The Stiles giant pumpkin display will always be remembered and displayed for the Halloween season. Mr. Stiles was engaged in farming until the time of his death. Surviving Richard are his five children, Richard W. Stiles of Pleasant Prairie, Susan (Chuck) Saftig of Pleasant Prairie, Renee Rockow and companion Chris Mandell of Elkhorn, WI, Robert Stiles of Pleasant Prairie and Rhonda (Chris) Lamont of Pleasant Prairie; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Richard) Boris of Kenosha; and sister-in-law, Grace (Claire) Faulkner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; and nephew, Don Faulkner. Visitation will be held for Richard at the Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for the committal service. Dear Stiles Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of going to the "Pumpkin Farm" on South Sheridan Rd as a child and then in turn taking my kids there when they were small. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
