Ruth H. Fiers, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Ridgewood Care Center in Mt. Pleasant, WI. Born in Somers, WI, on September 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Paulina (Meyers) Reck. She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, educated in local schools. On January 26, 1946, she married Kenneth Fiers. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2004. A member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Association of the Church, Ruth enjoyed singing, playing bingo, baking, dancing (especially the Polka) and playing the accordion, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her three children, Dale Fiers of San Diego, CA, DuWayne (Tracy) Fiers of Celina, TX, and Carolyn Smith of Racine, WI; and she also raised as her own her grandchildren, Dana (Scott) Thomson and Ashley (Marlena Onken) Jakob, and her great-grandchildren, Dylan and Seth. She is further survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James; her beloved daughter-in-law, Susan; and eleven brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ridgewood Care Center for the wonderful care given to our mother. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5038-19th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53140, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
