Marian Ledanski, 94, of Des Moines, IA, formerly of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Born in Chicago on February 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Julia Matejka. She was educated in the schools of Chicago. On November 19, 1938, she married Nicholas Ledanski in Kenosha, where they then resided. They retired to Green Valley, AZ. He preceded her in death in November of 1983. She moved to West Des Moines, IA, in 2002. Marian was employed by Tremper High School as their bookkeeper and by Kenosha Hospital as their office administrator before she retired. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. She enjoyed gardening, loved cooking for her family, playing with her great-grandchildren and was a ruthless canasta player. She was also an avid Packer fan. Marian is survived by her three children, Patricia (Joseph) Cerne of West Des Moines, IA, Nicholas (Albina) Ledanski of Woodstock, IL, and Tom (Linda) Ledanski of Kenosha; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her daughter, Barbara Erdman, and her sister, Libby Matejka. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 4313-18th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53140, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22nd, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
