Kenneth E. Wiedman, 81, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, March 4, 2013, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus with his family at his side. Born in Kenosha on July 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Mabel H. (Domes) Wiedman. He was educated in local schools. On February 12, 1952, he entered the United States Army. He served in the United States Corps. of Engineers in England reopening Headquarters and rebuilding an Air Force Base that was used for the 8th Air Force during WWII. He was honorably discharged on January 8, 1954. In 1954 Ken took a job with Quaker Stretcher Co. of Kenosha, later Quaker Industries, of Antioch, IL. Ken worked in Accounting/Finance, later becoming Comptroller and retiring in 1986. In 1963 in Antioch, IL, he met and married the love of his life, Delores J. Gorlitz. They resided in Antioch and in 1986 they moved to Kenosha due to family health issues. In later years Ken and Dee did most of their traveling in Wisconsin, particularly Door County and the La Crosse area, as well as the Tennessee Smokey Mountains. Ken was not a big hobby man but enjoyed the feel of a newspaper in his hands and read at least one a day. He enjoyed reading books on Americana, Modern History, all the Wars and most sports, except Hockey and "Soccey". He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Delores; two daughters, Susan (Bob) Campbell of Holland, MI, and Patricia (David) Longly of Libertyville, IL; his five grandchildren, Mike (Barbara), Mitch (Emily), Matt (Sandra) and Jaimie Campbell, and Brian (Jessica) Longly; and five great-grandchildren, Dan, Joe, Tom, Ian and Zachary. He is also survived by a niece, Deborah Adams, a nephew, Tom (JoAnn) Jorgenson, and their children. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jorgenson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Doctors and Staff of CCU at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus, especially his nurse Jamie for the special care, respect and dignity he gave Ken. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, at Proko Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
