Fern M. Garofalo, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at her home on February 25, 2013. Fern was born on November 30, 1920, in Rota Greca, Italy, to Philip and Gilda (Russo) Gentile. At an early age, she immigrated to the United States with her mother and settled in Kenosha at the request of her father who had previously come to the United States and found work in Kenosha. Fern then grew up in Kenosha, graduated from high school in 1941, and in 1946 married Ivo L. Garofalo. Together they spent the next 67 years building and preserving a lasting relationship built on love, friendship and faith. Fern is survived by her husband, Ivo; sons, Leonard of Kenosha and Thomas of Newhall, CA; grandchildren, Stephen Garofalo of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Michael Garofalo of Oak Creek, WI, Daniel Garofalo of Somers, WI, Jessica Garofalo-Howes of California, Andrea Garofalo of California, and Christie Garofalo-Rodriquez of California; and great-grandchildren, Dominic Garofalo of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Carley Garofalo of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Dylan Garofalo of Somers, WI, and Chloe Garofalo of Somers, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Philip Gentile. Prayers will be held on Friday, March 1st, from Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Mark's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
