Maria Vescio
Maria Vescio, 101, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at HCR ManorCare surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 26, 1911, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giovannina (Iannazzo) Vescio. In 1920 they moved to Sambiase, Calabria, Italy; then in 1953 she moved to Kenosha. She was employed by St. Catherine’s Hospital as a housekeeper from 1954 until 1976 when she retired. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed the Mt. Carmel Festivals, preparing pasta dinners for the events at Mt. Carmel. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her two children, Baptest (Mary Jo) Vescio of Fond du Lac, WI, and Giovannina (Frank) Farfalla of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Nick Farfalla, Rose Farfalla, Kathy Jeranek, Michael Vescio and Bryan Vescio; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie, Jacob, Peter, Miranda, Nathan, Owen, and Andrew; and her brother, Paolino Scozzaro of Kenosha. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ferdinando and Salvatore Scozzaro; and two sisters, Lina Piccolo and Isabella Mercuri. The family would like to extend a special thank you to HCR ManorCare for the wonderful services they provided for Maria. Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 28th, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
