Betty H Schlenker, 89, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, January 28, 2013, in the arms of her family. Born on April 12, 1923, in Hurley, WI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucia (Bosio) Faletto. She attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School. She married Dr. Leo Thomas Schlenker on June 7, 1947, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Kenosha. Her husband preceded her in death on June 20, 1978. Betty enjoyed dancing to Big Band music, playing bridge with her childhood friends, reading, and cooking for parties of thirty. She was a master baker and prepared many pecan pies for St. Mark’s bake sales. She cherished her lifelong friends and loved spending time with her family. Betty was a respected confidant as she was an exceptional, nonjudgmental, listener, and many of the community sought her common sense. She radiated a spirit that lifted the room. Always seeing the good in others, Betty never lost her sense of humor. She is survived by her ten children, Tom (Carolina) Schlenker of San Antonio, TX, Kathy (Darrell) Viola of Pleasant Prairie, Tim (Shelly Rusch) Schlenker of Madison, Terry (Susan Andrea) Schlenker of Kenosha, Kris (George Vanecek) Schlenker of Madison, Karolyn (Bill) O’Toole of Pleasant Prairie, Ted Schlenker of Pleasant Prairie, Todd (Sue Bolly) Schlenker of Milwaukee, Toby (Marcela) Schlenker of Somers, and Kim (Mark) Broderick of Pleasant Prairie. She is further survived by twenty-six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leo T. Schlenker; her parents; grandson, Corey T Schlenker; brother, George Faletto; and three sisters, Sally Law, Mary Crosetto and Catherine Kuzmich. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 7th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7th, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Academy or Hospice Alliance would be greatly appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Betty’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Dear Schlenker family, our sympathies for the loss of your mom. While teaching with Kathy, I had the chance to meet and visit Mrs. Schlenker. She had such a hearty and fun laugh and her eyes just danced when she told some great stories. You are all fortunate to have had her for so long.Sincerely, Kris and Larry
