Louis Stella, 93, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2012, at Brookside Care Center. Born on June 25, 1919, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Michael and Louise (Morrone) Stella. On January 29, 1944, he married Rosemary Costanzo in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2005. Louis and his lovely wife were born and educated in Kenosha. Their great-grandchildren represent the fifth generation of the family in Kenosha. Louie was the owner/operator of Casa Capri restaurant since 1954. Louie centered his life around his family business and community service as a former chairman and member of the Park Commission of Kenosha County. He was particularly involved in the development of Silver Lake Park and Bristol Woods, and played a leading role in the acquisition of Kemper Center by Kenosha County. Louie, on his great-grandmother Conti’s side, is a descendant of the first Italian family to settle in Kenosha over 125 years ago. He honorably served in the United States Air Force. What leisure time there was beyond family, business and community service was spent on golf, hunting and fishing. The ever-present cigar was his personal trademark. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Italian Businessmen’s Association. Louis is survived by his three children, Lewis "Butch" (Jan) Stella of Kenosha, Tony (Judy) Stella of Somers and Sandy (Dave) Bastianelli of Kenosha; ten grandchildren, Louis II, Anna, Nicki, Marty, Carrie, Joey, Michael, Jackie, Kristina and Anthony; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Maddie, Mollie, and Emmitt; two brothers, Michael and Alfred Stella; a sister, Carolyn (Frank) Gagliardi; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and three brothers, Martin, Serafino and Albert Stella. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Brookside Care Facility and his caregivers for all of the kind and considerate care they gave Louis. Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 3rd, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3rd, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2nd, at the funeral home on from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, the Leukemia Society or Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Louis’ Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
