Violet Lillian Bose

1923 ∼ 2012

Violet Lillian Bose
Violet Lillian (Birch) Bose left this earthly home to be with our heavenly Father on Monday, November 19, 2012. She was born June 7, 1923, in Somers to her parents, Chris and Ottilie Birch. As a child she worked alongside her parents and older sister Evelyn in the family dry goods/gas station known as the Center of the World. It was a gathering place for the local farmers and neighbors to get together, especially on a Saturday night. Violet was educated at Friedens and Wood Road Schools. Violet loved to dance and sing. She had a lovely voice and would perform at many local festivities and barn dances, including on the WLS Barn Dance radio show. She met her future husband Allie Bose, a Somers farmer, at the Center of the World. They married on April 19, 1941 and worked alongside each other on their family farm. Together they raised three daughters Sharon, Linda and Trudy. Violet was truly a “people” person. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Baker’s Dozen, a group of farm women who got together to play cards and laugh! Violet also golfed and bowled well into her 80s. She was known in many circles as the “candy lady” as she always had a bag of hard candies in her purse and freely handed out her sweet treats. Vi and Allie enjoyed many good years of retirement together until his death in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Evelyn and an infant grandson Christopher James Smith. Violet is survived by her daughters Sharon (James) Smith, Linda (David) Krueger and Trudy (Randy) LeBeau. She is further survived by the loves of her life her grandchildren Michael (Christine) Smith, Jennifer (Thomas) Miller, Charles (Maureen) Krueger, Nicole (Shayne) Erb, Becky and Andy LeBeau and Lisa (Glen) Obear, and also by four great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Miller and Dylan and Ian Smith. Sharon and family ,I am so sorry for your loss of your Mother. She was an exception woman. I remember her from when we were kids at Berryville school. I remember going to the Bose farm for a feild trip and how wonderful an experience your Mom & Dad made it for us. I also remember the great visits we had at Gateway cafe when we would run into her. She had such a happy Bubbly personality. May God find her peace and rest and may you all be assured she is in good hands now and will always be remembered.
