Mary Storz
Mary R. Storz, 80, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Kenosha on October 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena (Barca) Marano. She was a graduate of Kenosha High School and attended the University of Illinois-Chicago and Gateway Technical College. In June of 1953, Mary married the love of her life, Frederick (Bozo) Storz, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She moved to Chicago following her wedding, where they resided for 17 years before moving back to Kenosha in 1970. Since 1971, Mary had been employed as the Financial Secretary for the Italian American Society. Mary was very civic-minded, serving on the Kenosha Board of Health, the Kenosha County Civil Service Commission, the board of trustees of the Kenosha Public Museum, the Kenosha Police and Fire Commission, the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Committee and the WisItalia committee. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Alter Society, the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary, and was a lifelong member of the Kenosha Band Boosters. In 1982, Mary was the first woman chosen by the Italian American Men’s Society as their annual honored guest. She was also honored by the Italian Business & Professional Association in 2004. In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed cooking and traveling. She was deeply proud of her Italian heritage. She was a wonderful mother, a loyal friend to many, and took special delight in her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her three children, Frederick Storz; Rita (Todd) Hagen; Kathy (Bradley) Kemen; and one brother, Frank Marano, Jr. She has seven grandchildren: John (Kristi) Storz; Lauren (Justin) Wieners; Nora Storz; Sarah (Jamison) Hylinski; Stephanie Hagen, and Rita and Michael Kemen. She has two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Riley Storz; and has another on the way this December. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Storz; her sister, Rita Chovan; and her brother, Sebastian Marano, who died in infancy. The family would like to thank Dr. Joe Garetto, Hospice Alliance and Brookside Care Center for their wonderful care and support.
