Frances, 79, of Kenosha, passed away at Hospice Alliance on Thursday, November 8, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kenosha on May 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Lucy (Slagoski) Szikil. Mrs. Holmes moved to The Villages in Lady Lake, FL, in 1990 from Hemet, CA. She retired from Snap-On Tools, in Kenosha, WI, and served two years as chaplain for the Women’s Auxiliary Legion Post #284. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Holmes; brothers, Stan Oliak and Frank Oliak; and sisters, Regina Ungemach and Leona Webb. Survivors include her siblings, Verna Haubrich, Lillian Lentine, Pauline (Paul) Scuglik and Anton "Tony" (Karen) Szikil, many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends, Bingo friends, healthcare friends and especially her best friend, Verdaine Lichtenberg in Lady Lake, FL. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Hospice Alliance for the special care they gave to Frances during her final days. We were neighbors of Fran and Dick twice - once at Plymouth Rock and then again in The Villages. They were such delightful people. They were influential in our decision to move to The Villages. They are now together and at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with Fran and her family at this time.
