Helen Louise Olson, 94, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 30, 1918, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Helen H. (O’Hare) Rafferty. She graduated from St. James Grade School in 1932 and Kenosha High School in 1936. On June 23, 1945, she married Emil A. Olson at St. James Rectory. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1999. Helen was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Catholic Women’s Club and a former member of the Bristol Swingers Golf Club. She was Past President of St. James PTA Home and School and 2nd Vice President of St. Joseph High School. She loved playing bridge and going to lunch. She is survived by her four children, Christopher (Diane) Olson of Denver, CO, Eric J. (Alice) Olson of Kenosha, Jonathon (Peggy) Olson of Kenosha and Mary C. (Jim) Kaufman of Sheboygan, WI; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, William R. (Audrey) Rafferty of Kenosha and Dr. Hugh P. (Mary) Rafferty of Hartland, WI; and a sister, Rita Bistrick of Kenosha. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Amy Chiappetta, Rosemary Rafferty and Ruth Snyder; and three brothers, Owen, Thomas, and J. Patrick Rafferty. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Catherine’s Hospital, Hospice Alliance and Dr. Raymond Knight for all of their care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, at St. James Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.
