Robert Gordon Shaw

Robert G. "Bob" Shaw, 74, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He fought a very courageous battle of on-going medical conditions for many years. Born on February 21, 1938, he was the son of Gordon and Mary (Canavan) Shaw. Bob was named after the knobs on a stove (Made by Robert Shaw Co., in New York). He attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1956. He was a letter carrier, with the United States Postal Service for 27 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement Bob worked several jobs, including floral delivery, transportation van driver and a security guard. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, Bobby LaBonte (NASCAR) fan, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Race fan and also enjoyed going to USAC Midget Races. Bob enjoyed feeding peanuts to the squirrels in Library Park and in recent years he had acquired and extensive penguin collection. Bob was a pro at playing the Claw machines. He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Survivors include his cousin, Joyce Haertel, and many other cousins. Bob is also survived by his faithful companion of 29 years, Lynda Lester, and special friends, Jeff Lester, Michelle Cappelletti and family, Butch Slemensky, and many other friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shaw in 1988; his father, Gordon Shaw in 1987; and his cousins, Bill Robbins and Casey Canavan. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no service will be held.
