Richard S. Mazzei
Richard Mazzei, 81, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 27, 1930, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Serafino and Amelia (Covelli) Mazzei. Richard served as a Private First Class Grade Five in the United States Army from September 30, 1947, until he was honorably discharged on May 26, 1949. On August 5, 1950, he married Dorothy "Lorraine" Willems at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary. He was a superintendent at Nash/AMC/Chrysler for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. Richard was an avid Packer and Cubs fan. He was a true Sudoku player (he did them in ink) and he enjoyed word puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Kenosha; his three children, Richard C. (Shannon) Mazzei of Rockford, IL, James L. Mazzei of Scottsdale, AZ, and Diane M. (Allen) Diamond of Scottsdale, AZ; and five grandchildren, Amelia, Erica, Jessica, Jennifer and Serafino. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen Markese and Esther Militello. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance for their wonderful care and compassion throughout the last few months. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum with full military honors.
