Edna Mae (Thomsen) Andersen, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Edna was born January 12, 1920 in Kenosha, WI, to Markus and Neta (Schmidt) Thomsen. She attended local schools. On February 5, 1938, she married Elmer R. Andersen. They were true friends, companions and loved each other dearly. They were proud parents of seven children, Dennis, Barbara, Gilbert, Neta, Linda, Larry and Mark. Because of her kind and gracious ways, Edna had many friends young and old. She always had time for people. She had a wonderful wit and a great sense of humor; she enjoyed having fun and a good laugh. She enjoyed singing, reading, swimming and spending time with her family. Edna was a charter member and past officer of Somers Saddle Club. She was the bookkeeper and secretary for Andersen Concrete. Edna is survived by her children, Barbara Foss (Otto) Tierberger, Gilbert (Marge) Andersen, Larry (Kathie) Andersen, Mark (Janell) Andersen, and Linda (Bill) Esposito; her sister, Betty (Richard) Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Roberta Andersen; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Grams leaves a legacy behind of 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; her daughter, Neta Bishop; her son, Dennis Andersen; her grandson, Mike Foss; her sister, Virginia Petersen; and brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Maryalice Thomsen. I am so sorry to hear of Edna's passing. I will never forget the wonderful times we had on Moccasin Lake. Her friendship and caring for others, including myself, shall never be forgotten.
