Beloved mother, caring friend and loving wife passed away Monday morning, June 25, 2012. She was born Waltraud Thieme in Berlin, Germany, on January 12, 1924. She moved to the United States in 1953 and married Robert Howard on October 31, 1953. They moved to Largo, FL, in 1983. She returned to Kenosha in 2011. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and in her spare time she loved to cook, knit and swim. She was a skilled knitter and even though she suffered with severe arthritis, she would produce many items, her specialties being warm booties and loving teddy bears. Many of her bears were donated to groups like the rescue squad and fire department and given to children during times of crisis. She was very proud of her work and enjoyed knowing her work was appreciated. She touched many lives and was loved by all whose lives she touched. Mary was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She is survived by 6 children Heide (The Late Ron Thomas), Orrick (Vicki), Robert (Julie), Teresa (RonWojtak), Eva (Dennis Hoey), and Debra; 15 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband (Robert), her father (Otto), her mother (Frieda), and her brothers (Heinz and Otto). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27th, at Proko Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
