Gerald W. “Gerry” McGahan, 51, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at St Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie. Born in Munising, MI, on December 20, 1960, he was the son of James and Louella (Lucas) McGahan. He was educated in the schools of Michigan and moved to Kenosha in 1993. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1981 until his retirement from Great Lakes Naval Base in 1996. On May 17, 1982, he married Diane Marshall in Taylor, MI. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2011. Gerry was an engineer with Local 399 in Chicago. He attended the Prayerhouse Assembly of God and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters, Shirah (James) Kulerski of Kenosha, Jesi (Shawn) Massita-Silk of Barri, VT, and Jami Massita of Vermont; five grandchildren, Jayvaughn, Olivia, James, Kathleena, and Benjamin; his mother, Louella McGahan of St, Helen, MI; two brothers, James (Elaine) McGahan of Taylor, MI, and John (Joanne) McGahan of Taylor, MI; and five sisters, Virginia (Dan) Holman of St. Helen, MI, Geraldine “Jerri” (Jim) Gonka of Orlando, FL, Norma Jean (Mike) Davidson of West Branch, MI, Ilene (Dennis) Helfrisch of Wyandotte, MI, and Bobbi Jean McGahan of Orlando, FL. He was also preceded in death by his father, James McGahan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29th, at the Prayerhouse Assembly of God, 1525-24th Avenue, Kenosha, at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private. I'll miss seeing both Gerry and Diane when I walk out the back door. I enjoyed my conversations through the fence with them both. They will be missed and not forgotten.
