Mary Louise (Nelson) Rocco, 74, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the home of her daughter. Mary passed away with her daughters Patricia and Darlene by her side. Born in Kenosha on March 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Pauline (Hedger) Nelson. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools. She had been married to Charles Rasmussen in September of 1963; he passed away in 1984. She than married Salvatore L. Rocco on December 24, 1990, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1999. For many years Mary was employed by Regal China in Antioch, IL, and later at Manutronics for several years. Mary loved to play bingo, was the bingo caller at her residence every other week, loved to play cards and hang out with her best friend, Vicki Tate. She also loved to travel with her husband and enjoyed dancing with him. Surviving are four children, Jeffrey Rasmussen of Chicago, IL, Darlene (Richard) Zampanti of Kenosha, Patricia (David) York of Pleasant Prairie, and another daughter in Poy Sippi, WI; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step sons, Salvatore Rocco, Frank Rocco, and Brian Pike; two step daughters, Marie Flesch and Sidora Southern; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry G. (Susan) Nelson and Dennis L. Nelson, both of Kenosha; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Ronnie; a sister in infancy; and a step son, Jody Rocco. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd, at the Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery.
