Floyd Armando AIELLO

1916 ∼ 2012

Floyd Armando Aiello, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died of natural causes on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Floyd was 95 years old. He died in his home with his family in Waunakee, WI, where he has lived for the last ten years; prior to that he was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, WI. He will always be remembered as a cheerful and strong life force to his family. Floyd was born to Bruno Aiello and Theresa (Marano) Aiello on July 18, 1916, in Kenosha, WI. He attended McKinley School and later technical school to be a mechanic. On September 27, 1941, he married his beloved wife Jennie (Gennaccaro) at Holy Rosary Church. Shortly after that, in March 1942, Floyd enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. During World War II he served in Africa, Europe and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged from the Army in September 1945, and returned to his wife and Kenosha. Floyd worked at Simmons’ Bed Company as a sprayer for eighteen years, American Motors as a sprayer for nine years and supervisor for one year, and retired from McWhyte Wire Rope Company after ten years of employment there, mostly working as a splicer. Floyd was a union member during his years as a laborer and always valued their support. He also was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1865 and the Italian American Club. He was actively involved in his parish of St. Thomas Aquinas Church as an usher. In his younger days Floyd was well known in Kenosha for his talent as a pitcher in local fast pitch softball leagues. “Lefty” Aiello played for: Equitable Reserve Insurance Softball Team, Blatz, National Workers and The Midway. He was known to throw a nasty knuckle ball. Floyd and Jennie met at a dance and well into their latter years where still impressive and heartwarming to watch on the dance floor. Unfortunately for Floyd he was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, rarely seen without his Cubs cap on. Floyd is survived by his two sons, Roger (Teresa) and David (Theresa), his grandsons, David (Kimmi), Eric, Lucas and Nicholas, and great-grandson, Brody, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie. Floyd will always be remembered for his dedication to Jennie, who he cared for lovingly till her death 12 years ago. Also preceding Floyd in death are: his siblings; Mike (Floyd’s twin in childhood), Mary, Agnes, Angeline, Louis, James, George, Frank, and Mike R. Floyd has been a source of calm loving support and inspiration to his sons, grandsons and great-grandson. He was always ready to help in any way he could. He will always be missed and always be cherished. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful support and services that Floyd received from the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI. Without their comprehensive medical and social services Floyd would not have been able to stay with his family or enjoy the quality of life that he deserved till the end of his life. The family would also like to thank the St. Mary’s Adult Day Health Center, Madison, WI. Their caring professional staff also provided invaluable support for Floyd and his family. Memorials to these organizations would be appreciated.
