Victor Meier

1921 ∼ 2012

Victor Meier, 90, was called home to His Savior on Saturday evening, January 14, 2012, at Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 27, 1921, in Havelock, NE, to Frederick and Marie (Kahm) Meier, he was educated in local schools and worked hard with his family on their farm. On September 14, 1942, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aerial engineer and eventually obtained the rank of sergeant. During his enlistment, he flew around the world with Lieutenant General Elwood R. Quesada, and was honorably discharged from the Air Force on February 18, 1946. On July 17, 1948, he married the love of his life Mary Ruth Norris. They were happily married for over 58 years. Victor was employed as a welder for the Eaton Corporation, Dynamatic Division for over 25 years. He was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was also an avid golfer for over 70 years. Victor was a kind and gentle man, who was also very humble. Victor leaves behind his children, Pamela (Frank) Zenzola and Cary L. (Dawn) Meier, and his three loving grandsons, Joseph Victor, Alexander Paul, and John Francis. Preceding him in death, besides his wife and parents, are his five brothers, Robert, Herman, Edward, Harold, and Wally, and two sisters, Linda Kramer and Emma Schnell. He was further survived by numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of Victor’s Life will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2100-75th Street, Kenosha, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be held at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of 7 Palmer for their kindness and compassion during Victor’s illness and a special thank you to Dr. Ernesto Buencamino for his wonderful care of Victor and Mary Ruth over the last 30 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Victor’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
