Oke Wennerholm, 99, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Hospitality Manor. Born in Goteborg, Sweden, on December 20, 1912, he was the son of the late Karl and Alma Wennerholm. He immigrated to Chicago as an 11 year old boy and came to Kenosha in 1995. On April 20, 1940, he married Evelyn Anderson at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2000. Oke was an engineer with the Automatic Spring Coiling Company in Chicago, working for 50 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Oke was also a long-time member of Nebo Lutheran Church in Chicago and very active with Boy Scouts and church activities. Survivors include his two sons, Jim (Marge) Wennerholm of Kenosha and Roy Wennerholm of Omaha, NE; two grandsons, Eric and Jason (Trina) Wennerholm; a sister, Doris (Benny) Bunas; and a great-granddaughter, Neela. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Folke and Elof Wennerholm; and his first born son, Richard. A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, January 8th, at Proko Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
