Glenn Phillip Nyboe

1935 ∼ 2011

Glenn Philip Nyboe passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born March 3, 1935, Glenn lived most of his life in Racine. He graduated from Park in 1953 and attended UW-La Crosse earning a bachelor’s degree and later a master’s degree in Phy Ed. He began his teaching career in Clayton, then taught and coached for 6 years in Waterford before returning to Racine. He taught at Jerstad and Park for 13 years each and coached nearly every sport to a successful season. He was a referee for football and basketball, including many WIAA state finals. After retirement, he worked at the Washington Park Golf Course for over 20 years. Glenn was a sports enthusiast; most recently he enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing cards. He loved the Packers and although he grew up a Cubs fan, he converted to a Brewers fan in recent years. His legacy and love of athletics continued as he enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in sports. Glenn was a devout Christian and an active member and usher at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Svend and Magda Nyboe; his wife of almost 40 years, Glorian Jo (Duesterbeck) Nyboe; and brother, Allen Nyboe. Survivors include his children, Greg (Peggy) Nyboe of Racine, Ginger (Kevin) Laveau of Waukesha, and Geri Nyboe of Downers Grove, IL; and his grandchildren, Katie and Karlie Laveau, Evan and Ana Klumb, and Tricia Nyboe. He is also survived by very special friend, Millie Dietz, and many other family and friends.
