Noland Richard "Dick" Cate, 81, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee with his family at his side. Born in Faribault, MN, on April 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Noland "Jack" and Charlotte (Bitker) Cate. On December 30, 1950, he entered the United States Air Force, serving in Greenland during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1954. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On April 26, 1951, he married Anita Hubbell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault, MN. They lived in Oklahoma, Montana and Janesville before settling in Kenosha in 1957. Dick had been employed by Elliotts and Segals Woman’s Apparel Stores. He later was the manager of Barden’s Clothing Store in downtown Kenosha until his retirement in 1995. He owned D & A Saddles & Tack and took pride in refurbishing saddles. He loved horses and his farm and every year raised a melt-in-your-mouth steer for his family’s dining pleasure. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Downtown Business Association and the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce. He worked the night owl shift for INNS for many years. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Anita; his four children, Ricky Noland (Linda M.) Cate of Kenosha, Curtis Foster (Linda) Cate of Milwaukee, Pamela Sue Sinozich of Pleasant Prairie, and Amber Allynne (Daniel) Swanson of Salem; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10th, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
