Gloria Annunziata Geraldina DeBartolo

1931 ∼ 2011

Gloria Annunziata Geraldina (Ferraro) DeBartolo of Kenosha died Friday morning (September 9, 2011). She was born in Castrolibero, Provincia di Cosenza, Italy, on April 19, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Luigi Ferraro and Fiorina (LaMacchia) Ferraro. She grew up and went to school in Italy. Her father Luigi had a business in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from the turn of the century until 1938. When her father returned, he spent the duration of the war (WWII) in Italy. Then on October 4, 1953, she married Louis (Luigi) DeBartolo, (who resided at that time in Kenosha), at San Raffaele Church in Castrolibero. Her and her husband, who were from the same area in Italy, both had United States Citizenship and decided to move to Kenosha after they were married. She worked at Warwick Manufacturing in Zion, Illinois, where she made many friends from all over the US who she shared recipes with. After they closed, she held a position at Eaton Dynamatic Electrics in Kenosha where she was a member of the International Association of Machinists Union (IAMAW), until the factory was relocated. Her final employment was with KUSD as a lunch lady first at Washington Jr. High, and lastly at Bradford High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha. She enjoyed more than anything spending time with her family and friends (especially her three grandchildren). She was her happiest when she was working to help those dearest to her achieve their goals. She lived her life content that she had chosen to live most of her years in the United States. Surviving her are her two sons, Jay and David, her two daughters-in-law, Elvira and Rina (respectively), her grandchildren, Doria, Monica and Adriano, one sister, Franca (Ferraro) Bosco, her sister-in-law, Mary (Leonardi) Ferraro, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Luigi, her parents, Luigi and Fiorina, and her brother, Tony Ferraro, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, from Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Ginny, Anjie, and myself from DTC at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha want to extend our sincere sympathies to all of Gloria's family. She came to see us every two weeks and has for some time. She will be greatly missed. Gloria always came in with her "Cadillac" walker, a smile, and a story, usually about her new grandson. We love her and will miss her greatly. God bless and comfort all of you. Laurie Channell RN

Words are so inadequate at a time like this. The loss that all of you feel simply cannot be addressed by words or phrases of sympathy. The only comfort comes in knowing in your hearts that many, many people loved your Mother and love all of you. When you close your eyes and let all of the good memories of your lives together flood your minds, that's where you'll find comfort all the days of your lives.Take very good care of each other and those you love.We love you all.Mike Serpe and Debra Hertzberg

Dear Jay, David, Frances, and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Mother and Sister. She was one of the most kind and wonderful people that I ever had the privilege to know. I will always remember the fun times we spent in her kitchen as she cooked her delicious Italian delicacies. Much love to you all. Lynne
