Joy Sconzert, 53, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, August 12, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Kenosha on December 4, 1957, she was the daughter of Don and Carol (Barnes) Ruef. Joy was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated in local schools. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Jessica (Dean) Bell, Jennifer Sconzert and Joseph Hurley, all of Kenosha; two brothers, Donald (Sue) Torkelson and Chris (Theresa) Torkelson; two grandchildren, Zach Bell and Jada Joy Sconzert; and her many dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 17th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Heaven was sent an angel today but the earth lost a kind soul. Her spirit will be remembered though, we can hear her laugh in the wind, feel her love in the sun and the twinkle in her eyes now lights the sky at night. As we mourn the loss of a true friend we must remember she was ready and at peace with her departure because she knew it was only temporary. We will see each other again in heaven and she will be watching over us until then. Please honor her by not being filled with sadness but with laughter and rememberances because thats the way she was in life and thats the way she would want her death. Rest in Peace our dear friend.

My prayers and condolences go out to the family of Joy, my BFF.. Since I met her tending bar at Friar's we were inseparable until I moved to California. My kids even brought her to California to share my 50th birthday with me.. Oh, the great times we shared. This is the end of an era for us but I will never forget you ever.
