Lawrence Paul “Larry” Kavalauskas, 76, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at his home after a short illness. Born in Kenosha on June 9, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Flammang) Kavalauskas. Larry met the love of his life, Judy Remington, while scooping the loop in his 1950 Oldsmobile convertible. On November 24, 1954, they were married in Kenosha. Larry and Judy shared 57 wonderful years together. Larry served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. from 1954 until 1957 when he was honorably discharged. He was employed by ARA Services from 1954-1983. Since 1983, he has been the owner/operator of Spankys Bar and Grill with his wife and his son, Rik. He enjoyed fishing on Silver Lake and on Lake Michigan and traveling with his wife Judy on many vacations and cruises, where he enjoyed playing and winning at Blackjack. He loved shopping at Sam’s Club. Larry especially enjoyed spending time with his family and was known and loved as “Pop” by all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the 1970’s he founded the American Cancer Society Kenosha Chapter with John Pendrick. Unlike many Kenosha residents, it didn’t matter to Larry if the Packers or Bears won or lost, as long as his number came up. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his son Rik (Pam), their children, Jason (Sarah) and their daughter Charlie Mae; Ryan (Tina Dora) and Kyle; his daughter, Renee Overson, her children, Andy (Betsy Watts) and Ashley; his son, Randy (Sharon Nevela), his daughter, Nicole (Nick Land), and their children, Joey and Lathan; and his son Rob, and his children, Zak, Korey, and Clay. He is also survived by his brother, Al (Claire) Kavalauskas and sisters-in-law, Florence and Sally. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and two brothers, Jack and Fred. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18th, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Women and Children’s Horizons or Hospice Alliance would be greatly appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Larry’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
