Joan E. Matera, 81, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Brookside Care Center. Born in Amery, WI, on October 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Tekla (Lundmark) Robinson. She came to Kenosha in 1951 to make her home. On February 21, 1979, she married Arthur "Tillie" Matera in Kenosha. He preceded her in death March 2, 2002. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had been a Kindergarten teacher for Kenosha Unified Schools for over 25 years. Surviving are a son, James (Sherry) Gourley, Jr. of Kenosha; a daughter, Lisa (Mark) Kober of Kenosha; and five grandchildren, Mark Kober, Jr., Christy (Chad) Schneiberg, Kelly (Bryan) Hammond, James Gourley, III, and Shenafa (Mike) Kenney. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
