Born and raised on Chicago’s North Side, and formerly of Trevor (Rock Lake), WI, and Santa Ana, CA, Gordon Dillon, age 86, passed away due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his children, Kathy (Spence) Petros, Ginny (Robert) Singer, Garry (Meagan) Dillon, Ken (Corinne) Dillon, and Brian (Marie) Dillon; former wife, Audrey Flood; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Dillon. Bud served two tours of duty in the US Army during World War II stationed in Germany, France and Belgium. During the 1950’s, Bud was active in the Trevor Volunteer Fire Department and at one time served as Captain. During that same period he also served as an auxiliary deputy for the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Music was an avocation for Bud. He played string bass in various USO/Army combos, and during the 50’s and 60’s, played in a popular local dance band known as the “Twilighters”. During his time in California he was active in the VFW, and served with a Search and Rescue Team, for which he received a citation issued by then Congressman Sonny Bono. Prior to his retirement, Bud had his dream job working as park manager for Lion Country Safari, a 260 acre exotic animal park in California, where early each morning, he would race the cheetahs in his zebra striped park vehicle.
