Helen M. Burkemper, 96, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Pine Brook Pointe Assisted Living Center in Burlington, WI. Born in Evanston, IL, on December 31, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Kayles) Michelau. She received her education in the schools of Illinois and formerly resided in Buffalo Grove, Brighton and Harvard, IL, before coming to Kenosha in 1976 to make her home. On June 27, 1936, she married Clarence Weidner in Buffalo Grove, IL. He preceded her in death. On November 28, 1981, she married Leander Burkemper in Northbrook, IL. He also preceded her in death. Helen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, The Ladies of the Moose #500 of Harvard, IL, Loyal Order of the Forresters in Brighton, IL, and Kenosha Senior Citizens Center. Surviving are her six children, Martin Weidner of Salem, WI, Theodore (Linda) Weidner of Burlington, WI, Ronald (Linda) Weidner of Ark Dale, WI, Lois (Myron) Schulz of Kenosha, Janet (Robert) Gillmore of Bristol, WI, and Margaret (Jeff) Kruse of Harvard, IL; six step-children, Jim (Mary Jo) Burkemper of Hubertus, WI, Virginia (Donald) Neiweem of Northbrook, IL, Doris Kusek of Schaumburg, IL, Betty (Paul) Hartmann of Gaylord, MI, Rita (Paul) Meintzer of Deerfield, IL, and Nancy (Jesse) Garcia of Spokane, WA; 20 grandchildren; 20 step grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 18 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Michelau and Allie Michelau; three sisters, Barb and Mary Weidner and Ann Herff; a daughter-in-law, Chris Weidner; and a step son-in-law, Kenneth Kusek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 16th, at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Buffalo Grove, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
