Donald E. Broman, Sr.

Donald E. "Don" Broman, Sr., 96, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Manor Care Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 6, 1915, in Cambridge, IL, he was the son of the late George and Mildred (Johnson) Broman. For over 60 years he resided in Park Ridge, IL, before coming to Kenosha five years ago to make his home and be near his family. He was a graduate of Shurtleff College in Alton, IL, where he was Class President and Capt. of the Basketball Team. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He served from 1941 until 1945; he served in Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star. On May 28, 1942, he married Lillian Ostewig in Lee, IL. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1998. After graduation from college, he worked for Lyon and Healy Music Company where he became Executive Vice President. In 1974 he left to become Vice President of Retail Operations for Baldwin Piano Co. He proudly served as an Alderman in Park Ridge, IL, where he was also a member of the VFW. Surviving are his two children, Donald E. (Jean) Broman, Jr. of Venice, FL, and Dianne (John) Eppler of Norfolk, VA; his six grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Zipparro, Scott (Nicole) Broman, Sarah (John) Bruber, Gibson Eppler, John Eppler, and Martha (Sam) Cohen; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll, and a sister, Eleanor. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, at Proko Funeral Home Chapel at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
